Spending a week on the French Riviera ! It is that easy!

Updated: Apr 14

French Riviera, the name sounds very common, the first things that jump to our minds are related to sophistication, Wealth, Red carpet, Cannes festival, euros to be spent, actually a lot of them .. But did you ever know that you can visit the French Riviera also on budget ?

It's no surprise that the French Riviera is a major tourist attraction. Situated at and to the east of the point where the Alps meet the Mediterranean, it is an area that enjoys a wonderfully mild to warm climate all year round, despite being one of the more northerly coasts on the whole Mediterranean. While I was there ,first week of August, the weather was hot, and been said that it was the hottest period through the year ..Beaches were crowded and tourists are filling the whole coast :)

Weather in General :

Through Autumn and Winter, the Riviera is protected from cold north winds by the Alps in its hinterland.

Spring comes early, bringing the first mimosas into bloom by February.

By April the days are normally sunny and warm, and gardens starts to be filled with flowers.

Accommodation :

Hotels are generally not cheap, a 3 stars hotel average cost in summer goes around 152 € , while average cost for a 5* Hotel Room is 436 €..

You can depend on renting an appartment/ studio, I booked mine using

View from the apartment I rented in Toulon, overseeing Mont Faron

Transportation between the different cities:

The app I used to book my TGV and train tickets is Omio , here is the link .Different options and prices are always available , but the earlier you do the booking, the cheaper you find the prices ..

Whole of the Riviera coast is well served by train, the main Marseilles- Ventimiglia railway route from Marseille- Saint Charles running close to the shore for much of the way between Toulon and the Italian border covering the Côte d'Azur

Marseille Vieux port

Trip plan :

We started our trip in arriving to Marseille, then headed up to Toulon, Seyne sur mer, Aix-en-Provence, and from there we explored the Côte d'Azur : Cannes, Antibes, Nice & Monaco .
